Giant Gate..Can you guess the place (Updated)

This giant gate is a popular attraction in the center of a big city. The knobs or nails on the door are presumably gold. Similar to golden plate on lower end, the door has golden plate on the top end but not visible in the picture. This gate (along with other buildings of this tourist spot) was constructed more than 500 years ago. To give you an idea of the height of the gate, the person in this picture is around 6 feet tall.

Can you guess the city and/or this Heritage site?

(Answer:- Most of you are right. It is indeed Forbidden City, Beijing, China. I guess I am dealing with a set of well traveled, well read and intelligent people. Added a posted on the Forbidden City - here)

  9. See how neatly a 500 year old door has been maintained? Our tourist spots must learn from them, where ever it is.

  14. I have no idea where it is, all I can say is I think it very impressive. That said, as it's red and this a colour I associate with China (its considered a lucky colour there, isn't it?)I think I'm also going to take a guess at China. Then again there is something about it, the golden studs I think, which puts me in mind of India.

  26. Dear All,

    Thanks for participation. I enjoyed it. Tanishka raised a specific point so a special reply to her.

    @Tanishka,

    Well I said 'intelligent' too. You are an INTELLIGENT reader. I feel you are intelligent because you know what you don't know. People who know themselves are the most intelligent people in my opinion. They know their strengths and weaknesses better than anyone else. You are one of them.
