Mom, you are the most….

5685407603_067a4b3a70_zAnita gathered her camera, flash and tripod and entered the prom hall. She was designated photographer to take pictures at her daughter’s prom night. She instantly felt out of place as she entered the prom hall. She saw vivacious, slim, radiant stunning teenage girls with well done hair, perfect makeup, designer dresses, expensive purses, shining stylish shoes, and confident postures. With her unkempt hair, old jeans and sweat shirt, she felt like a worn-out old overweight woman. She thought of herself as an outdated repulsive object in the world of extremely attractive people.

She decided to correct her mistake. She did not want to be noticed. She did not want anyone know that she is Amy’s mother. Just as she started to walk towards the door, her daughter Amy stopped her.

“Mom, where are going?” Amy asked.

“I don’t belong here”, she replied.

“Why?” Amy asked.

“I am so ugly and clumsy. I don’t want to embarrass you with these looks and this outfit. Your friends would not think highly of you if they see me,” Anita pointed to her clothes and face.

Amy was silent and motionless for several seconds. A couple of second seemed like a long pause.

Amy moved and held her mom’s face in her hands, “Mom, you are mom. I don’t care what others think and say. You can never embarrass me. You are my role model. You are my hero. You are my best friend. For me you are the most beautiful person on this earth.”

Happy Mother’s Day All!

(PS: - The post is based on real life events and I took the picture from my photo friend Josie’s wonderful collection. )

Unkempt hair, old jeans and sweat shirt are all the signs of a person who has worked a lot in their life so that their kids have a better life!

Wonderful sentiment. Moms and kids love each other irrespective of looks. Wish all of us would know that it is the relationships in life that are the most precious.

Nice post. This girl know who precious Mom is way before others finds out later in their life.

Perfect description of how a mom feels! The reason not necessary be about how they look. It can also be about the values and outlook towards life. Moms and Dads should always be worthy of being role models. And that is the toughest task!

Belated Mother's Day Wishes!
